Can you clarify, what is it that you are looking to have created? --Zackmann08 (Talk to me/What I been doing) 21:37, 16 September 2018 (UTC)
I'm still kind of confused what you are looking for here. --Zackmann08 (Talk to me/What I been doing) 23:52, 22 September 2018 (UTC)

Medal table[edit]

I would like a template for medal table (example 2018 Asian Games medal table) so the total number of medal could be computed automatically. Currently {{Infobox country at games}} has this feature. Hddty. (talk) 05:01, 29 August 2018 (UTC)

@Hddty.: I like this idea. Think it might be a good candidate for a module... --Zackmann08 (Talk to me/What I been doing) 21:40, 16 September 2018 (UTC)
clock In progress this is going to take me a few days but I hope to have a proof of concept done mid week. :-) --Zackmann08 (Talk to me/What I been doing) 22:16, 16 September 2018 (UTC)
@Hddty.: can you take a look at {{Medals table}} and let me know what you think? Still working out a few kinks... But would love some feedback! --Zackmann08 (Talk to me/What I been doing) 22:36, 17 September 2018 (UTC)
@Zackmann08: Cool! I didn't expect the column would be merged if the NOC has the same rank. My suggestion is, since the ranks are automatically generated based on medal, maybe better to use IOC codes to distinguish the parameter instead of number (example goldCHN, thus we don't need nation1). Sometimes in the main article we only display top 10 NOC + "Remaining NOCs" by transclusion (see 2016 Summer Olympics#Medal table, sometimes not, see 2018 Winter Olympics#Medal table) is this template able to do this? Also NOCs total number needs to be displayed in the bottom of the table. Hddty. (talk) 02:33, 18 September 2018 (UTC)
@Hddty.: well much of the credit goes to Frietjes for her assistance! The use of the IOC codes is an interesting idea... Not sure whether it is practical to implement that in a module. @Frietjes: do you have any thoughts? I'm happy to try to implement it, but I'm curious what you think. --Zackmann08 (Talk to me/What I been doing) 03:46, 18 September 2018 (UTC)
IOC codes should be possible by calling Module:Country alias. I would suggest |gold_CHN= or |goldCHN= with the ability to override the display name with |nameCHN= or |name_CHN=, but if the name parameter isn't there, then it looks up the name from the 3 letter abbreviation using Module:Country alias. the other interesting feature with 2016 Summer Olympics medal table is the ability to show the full table on 2016 Summer Olympics medal table but only part of the table on 2016 Summer Olympics#Medal table. there are a few ways we could accomplish this, but the method used by Template:2004–05 FA Premier League table is probably the most obvious (see the show_limit parameter and 2004–05 Chelsea F.C. season#League table). Frietjes (talk) 13:27, 18 September 2018 (UTC)

──────────── @Frietjes: I like it! You really have a knack for this stuff. Greatly appreciate your counsel here. @Hddty.: I'm going to play around with the above idea and see what I can come up with. Give me a day or two. :-) --Zackmann08 (Talk to me/What I been doing) 18:06, 18 September 2018 (UTC)

@Frietjes and Hddty.: I'm moving this conversation to Template talk:Medals table#Initial creation so that it will be preserved with the template itself. --Zackmann08 (Talk to me/What I been doing) 18:41, 18 September 2018 (UTC)

With multiple articles concerning this group, it might be time to create a navbox for the group. Here is my draft of the navbox, which I encourage any reviewing editor to improve where necessary before creating. Thanks!

Addition of columns[edit]

Not a template request, issue addressed.

Hello! Could somebody make a template similar to Help:Table/example row template, but for addition of columns?

Like this:

Year A. B. C.
I. 2 3 4
II. 4 6 8
III. 8 12 16
Total ΣA ΣB ΣC

Thank you in advance! --Pegy22 (talk) 18:53, 19 September 2018 (UTC)

@Pegy22: that isn't really a template issue.. That is just documentation. --Zackmann08 (Talk to me/What I been doing) 19:26, 19 September 2018 (UTC)
Isn't this a template? Help:table/example row template
<includeonly>|-
|{{{1}}}||{{{2}}}||{{#expr:{{{1}}}/{{{2}}}}}</includeonly><noinclude>{{documentation}}</noinclude>

Then how can I transcribe it to work with columns? --Pegy22 (talk) 19:57, 19 September 2018 (UTC)

@Pegy22: so this is a weird case... Technically any page can be a template. That is to say that you can include any page within another. In the context of this page (requested templates) we are focused on pages in the Template namespace. The example you found is just a bit of code that is reused on multiple help pages. Lets take this conversation to your talk page? I'm happy to try to help you out. I shall leave you a message in a moment. --Zackmann08 (Talk to me/What I been doing) 20:37, 19 September 2018 (UTC)

Can someone whip up a quick version of Template:Request edit without the COI bit for use at the Teahouse, where users are not yet comfortable enough with the markup to make uncontroversial changes? I offer 1.5 barnstars, non-negotiable. GMGtalk 14:41, 6 October 2018 (UTC)

@GreenMeansGo: any suggestions for the template name? --Zackmann (Talk to me/What I been doing) 17:16, 6 October 2018 (UTC)

Orthoptera Species File (OSF) citation[edit]

There is already a citation template for Orthoptera Species File (OSF) on the Italian Wikipedia.[1] Can we get one here? –Hyperik talk 00:50, 19 October 2018 (UTC)

Move notice template[edit]

I'm proposing a new template, {{Move notice}}, which would operate analogously to {{Afd notice}} and be used to notify users (or WikiProjects) about a proposed page move. I have a mockup in my sandbox here. The transcluded /doc page should suffice for meeting WP:RT requirements about what the template should do. There are also four test cases available, the first one is here. All the test cases "pass" at the moment; perhaps more of them should be added. There's also one pending item in my ToDo list on the Talk page, which will probably break my tests if I try to implement it.

I'm not a very experienced template writer, and quite shaky with safesubst which I just copied out of the Afd notice template, so that bears looking at, and the whole template needs a once-over. This grew out of a real-world need, where I found I was pasting the same boilerplate on various user pages and WikiProjects, and decided it needed a better solution than that, and this is the result. Mathglot (talk) 09:16, 29 October 2018 (UTC)

Mathglot, I don't have much experience with templates, but I think it would be helpful to have a parameter/input to allow someone to override the default discussion location. Since sometimes people start discussions in the wrong place, or a proposed move comes out of an existing in progress discussion. zchrykng (talk) 00:04, 4 November 2018 (UTC)
Zchrykng, I'm a newbie at templates, but adding that param is easy enough to do; I'll put it on my list. Thanks for the suggestion. If you have more, please add them directly to the talk page of the template as well, or at least add a link there to here or wherever. Thanks, Mathglot (talk) 00:07, 4 November 2018 (UTC)
Will do! zchrykng (talk) 00:24, 4 November 2018 (UTC)
@Mathglot and Zchrykng: Do you agree also with my suggestions at User talk:Mathglot/sandbox/Templates/Template:move notice#Move notice about also including a parameter for primary topics (specifically) and naming (specifically) don't worry about the precise text as that can be worked on, the main thing is having the parameters. Crouch, Swale (talk) 17:11, 4 November 2018 (UTC)

Rfd should show required parameter[edit]

If I enter {{Rfd}} on a page, it tells me to Subst: it, and shows

Error: No content was provided. The original text of the page (the #REDIRECT line and any templates) must be placed inside of the content parameter.

However, it is not obvious to all editors that this means we have to add |content=.

It would be helpful if the module could be amended to explain clearly the specific code required. At present, an editor unfamiliar with the template has to open it in a separate window to see what is required. – Fayenatic London 11:57, 7 November 2018 (UTC)

Jawaharlal Nehru[edit]

Would it be possible to make a template for the first Indian Prime Ministr Jawaharlal Nehru ?

Akhiljaxxn (talk) 09:43, 11 November 2018 (UTC)

@Akhiljaxxn: a template of what?? A topic sidebar? A navbox? What are you looking for? --Zackmann (Talk to me/What I been doing) 09:59, 11 November 2018 (UTC)
Zackmann08 One like this Template:Mahatma Gandhi. Akhiljaxxn (talk) 10:06, 11 November 2018 (UTC)

Template:di-disputed fair use rationale disputed[edit]

Template:di-disputed fair use rationale requires contacting an editor who placed the tag if the tag were to be removed. If someone were too reluctant to contact that editor, how about creating the template to dispute the rationale, almost similar to Template:di-replaceable fair use disputed?
